Amidst the captivating landscapes, approximately 10km away from Ninh Binh city, lies the remarkable Am Tien Cave. Situated between the ancient Trang An and Hoa Lu ancient capital, this hidden gem was once a challenging destination to access, nestled amidst towering limestone karst mountains and surrounded by a picturesque green lake.      Legend has it that Am Tien Cave served as a significant location where King Dinh Tien Hoang, who reigned from 968 to 979, raised tigers and constructed execution grounds.      Perched halfway up the mountain, Am Tien Cave is enclosed by lofty vertical cliffs. To reach the cave, one must ascend 205 stone steps etched into the cliffside. Adjacent to Am Tien Cave, on its right, stands a pagoda dating back more than a millennium. Dowager Empress Duong Van Nga chose this pagoda as her sanctuary, where she devoted herself to a religious life after assisting the Dinh and Le kings in their fight against Chinese invaders.

     From Am Tien Cave, visitors can witness breathtaking sunsets and gaze upon a vast lake known as Ao Giai, colloquially referred to as the "Turtle Lake." As one gazes down from the Am Tien Pagoda, a panoramic view unfolds, showcasing the majestic landscape adorned with towering mountains and a sprawling, crystal-clear lake. This body of water was historically utilized for raising turtles, hence its name. The pristine clarity of the lake allows visitors to glimpse the depths, where an abundance of aquatic vegetation imparts a unique green hue.
